125 years Villa Kehrwieder

In the last decade of the 19th century, the Hamburg merchant Ernst Rittmeister built Villa Kehrwieder on the sunny southern slope of the valley.  From 10 May 1894 onwards, the guest book shows the first entries of visitors, who from then on travelled from Germany and all over the world, such as Paris, New York, Moscow, St. Petersburg and Buenos Aires, to enjoy the famous Black Forest air. From 1934, the son, Kurt Rittmeister, took over the business and ran it until 1952. In that year, the Villa Kehrwieder was sold to the married couple Kurt and Liselotte Zimmer, who ran it first as a private pulmonary sanatorium and later as a hotel. In the meantime, the management of the house has been passed on to their daughter Adelheid Zimmer.

Further details on the history of the house can be found on the website Villa-Kehrwieder
